I’m not always the sharpest pencil in the shed or tool in the drawer. So I’m sure many of you long ago noticed what I’d missed until a few days ago when I listened more carefully to the voice I hear every time I sit down to write a column. In merely pronouncing the word Thanksgiving, our voices naturally stress the second syllable. The emphasis confirms, I think, our sense that it’s natural to give while remembering the things for which we’re thankful.
